Wentworth's Share   Written by BarbaraB (10/3/2005 6:31 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Captain Wentworth and Louisa's fall, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

]So, what do you think? How much responsibility does Frederick bear for Louisa's injury? I'd say a good 60/40%, Louisa having the 60%. I had to give her more, for she did the actual jumping. ;-) But I think he bears quite a lot of responsibility.

I was thinking in terms of 50/50 but I agree that since Louisa did the actual jumping that 60/40 is a good proportion. Also I think that Wentworth himself would agree with you that he bears some of the responsibility: "Oh God! that I had not given way to her at the fatal moment! Had I done as I ouught! But so eager and so resolute!..." I think this shows that he is just a few moments of reflection away from knowing he had a good deal of influence on her actions. She is young and impressionable and he should have qualified his thoughts on a firm mind with one so young and easily influenced.
