...very beautiful line of cliffs ... extensive sweeps of country .... the woody varieties ... green chasms between romantic rocks ... its sweet, retired bay, backed by dark cliffs, where fragments of low rock among the sands, make it the happiest spot for watching the flow of the tide, for sitting in unwearied contemplation... (ch 11) Here are some picture of The Cobb taken by Pemberleans on the 2002 AGM held in England. A nice picture of The Cobb jutting out into the sea. You can see that the stones are very uneven and there is a good slant to it. Tricky to walk on.
Here are the steps from which Louisa jumped, front view and back. Foolish, headstrong gel!
I didn't venture down the steps - too scary! - but here is a line-up of Pemberleans who were much braver than I.
