flew out the window in four years!! I do agree that Charles never had any deep attachment to Anne, except that of a friendship that survived her refusal and his subsequent marriage to her sister...which is quite a bit, actually. Anne's friendship must be a great consolation to Charles, since his wife is such a dud. But, I can't help but wonder what he must think, from time to time, about the differences between the two women, and his bad luck at ending up with Mary.
