Mary's constant illness   Written by Pennie (9/30/2005 9:35 a.m.)
Are you new?

Mary is constantly complaining of being ill and indisposed. What exactly would she be ill with to the point she could get away with complaining of it so much?

I heard somewhere that while ladies had their periods, if they wished to avoid company during this time, they would say they were indisposed, a term Mary uses frequently. Given the lack of medication for irregular periods, heavy bleeding and period pain, not to mention sanitary products, your period would be a trial if you were good natured, yet alone if you were Mary!

However, I refuse to believe that her menstrual cycle could be bothering Mary all the time!

Perhaps she had a mild form of depression too. She always complains of fatigue, a common symptom of depression, and seems to be paranoid about neglect, and experiences general doldrums.

I know Mary's commonly perceived as being a fusspot, but *something's* got to be making her ill. Lower down the board people discussed how it might have been an attention seeking ploy, and it wouldn't surprise me if all the stress of this ploy actually did make her ill
