I have long regarded P&P as one of the most succinct novels of my acquaintance, and I think Persuasian is every bit as efficient. Every scene works overtime and this is one of the things I admire about JA.

Very well said. I've been in discussions with individuals who really disliked the book, and I too thought it was "just okay" after my first read. But to fully enjoy this book, you have to read it critically. Each conversation and situation has some little bit to give you important information and if you're not reading critically, you'll miss it!
