Dancing with Anne?   Written by Cheryl (9/29/2005 3:38 a.m.)
Are you new?

I've been wondering about Frederick's asking if Miss Elliot ever danced. Was he thinking of asking her? I believe that if she did take her turn at dancing, that he couldn't not ask her - it would look too odd otherwise. So was he asking to steel himself for the possibility, and was he relieved that he wouldn't have to?

You can just sense the emotions seething below the surface with these two. Could they have maintained their studied air of indifference if they danced, if they had to touch? It's probably just as well that they didn't, but it is delicious to think about. ;-)
