I have also read somewhere... Written by Emmy (9/29/2005 2:00 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, The "Richard" Joke, penned by Golda

can't recall where... that JA didn't like the name Richard, that is was the name of the first publisher that rejected P&P. Not sure if that's true or if it's a wives tale, but there it is.

Also for the "Dick"/Richard line, surely "it" didn't mean then, what it does today??? (Trying not to cross the family friendly boundary...)
