Couldn't agree more   Written by Ann2 (9/28/2005 2:26 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mary is the baby of the family, penned by Margaret 7
Are you new?

This is exactly how I see it. Mary probably never had enough love and the care to make her selfconfident enough to mature. Anne did her a lot of good I'm sure, but she was a mere girl after all and not always highspirited herself. Also we don't know that they attended the same school, do we. And it's a fact that Anne was back home, when Mary was still in school. So motherless Mary must have spent a lot of time on her own.

Lady Russel doesn't seem to care too much for her. Sheds a new light on Mary's complaint when Lady R couldn't be bothered to step indoors on her way to where ever she was headed. Mary wants heaps of motherly concern and unconditional affection and nobody but Anne can stand it. :-{
Little wonder that she doesn't know how to satisfy the needs of her own children. She's still in many ways a child herself.
