It's contrast is so wonderful. The is the wretchedness of being ignored, but also the youthful joy of being admired.

In that little passage I feel all of Wentworth's admiration shining on her and all that it was worth to Anne as a person.

It's beautiful and wretched at the same time. Just when I think I'm disasstified with the novel, Austen outdoes herself and I'm back in!
