Are you new?

Last time we did Persuasion as a Group Read, we worked out a chronology of events that form the background to the novel. Persuasion is JA's only novel with a definite time -- all the others are a bit vague on precisely when they're set; and it's also the only one where the real events taking place actually matter to the novel, such as the sailors coming on shore.

Here is the first chunk of the chronology, for the events of the summer of 1814, before the novel starts and for the opening chapters. There may be one or two spoilers for later chapters.

Chronology: summer of 1814
