Feelings...   Written by BarbaraB (9/26/2005 7:34 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, 'Feelings so in unison', penned by Barbara
Are you new?

]So when Anne learns that the breakfast plan had 'somehow, they hardly knew how' changed from the Cottage to the Great House, her thought was: "Anne understood it. He wished to avoid seeing her."

]I would imagine his feelings upon learning that Anne was not coming were exactly the same.

I agree with this. He seems to have made up his mind to continue to be resentful and angry (less intense now) with her. Even though Anne allowed herself to be persuaded to give him up, you can't help but feel for her. He takes notice of her only enough to meet the most minimum requirements of civility. After that, he becomes another person in her life by whom she is to be ignored. Anne must have been absolutely wretched during his conversation where he kept talking about the year six. He seemed to be doing it purposefully to get in little digs aimed strictly at Anne.
