LR's belief about Anne's feelings   Written by Emmy (9/26/2005 12:51 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Anne was not going to be left in poverty with kids, penned by Tracy W
Are you new?

I wonder what LR thinks Anne's feelings are toward FW. They never speak of it, so one wonders if LR realizes Anne still loves him. Perhaps at the time of the engagement and the breaking of it, LR believed that it was a youthful infatuation easily overcome. To me, that still doesn't acquit her of neglect of seeing Anne out more, but it would soften the cruelty involved. Perhaps it was like Col F says to Lizzy in P&P, had their not been much affection in the case, it would lessen the honour of LR's triumph very sadly.
