worse, IMO. She is not his mother, she is the woman he wants to marry! I still maintain that Wentworth reacted in a manner consistent with a man who has just been kicked in his pride, and told that he is not worthy of the woman he loves. No matter how gently Anne may have said this, the message is still there.
