I have always wondered about this statement... Did Anne think (or hope) that CW still loved her? In some ways she seems so modest and humble, that it would seem she would not "claim" that yet she also must know that since he's (likely) made his fortune, that he would have the ability to marry. I wonder, did Anne for a time after reading of his advancement, not just hope, but think he'd come back for her?
