Are you new?

(sorry if I didn't make that clear in my first post) but his reaction of grave disapprobation would still have injured their happiness (IMO). I would imagine that LR was sent for --- either immediately or at the latest the next day --- and then all came crashing down.

I cannot imagine it all being lightness and happiness with Sir W raving about the house what a disgrace it was! :)
