Maybe this is a lack of understanding about men!   Written by Annette J. (9/25/2005 7:42 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Hmmm..., penned by MaryAnn K.
Are you new?

I ran this past my son, to see what he thought. Granted, he is older than CW is at the time of the broken engagement, but in his opinion Wentworth's reactions were consistent with being male. To tell a man who loves you that you are breaking off the relationship for "his own good," especially for economic reasons, implies that you think he is incompetent and incapable of doing the one thing that most men want to do more than anything: protect and provide for the people they love. Anne insulted his manhood. Why should anyone be surprised that he left the way he did?

Now, put the shoe on the other foot: if CW had been the one who broke off with Anne, how many of you would be outraged if she kept trying to keep in contact with him? I would be willing to bet that most of you would lose respect for AE if she continued to persue CW under those circumstances. Why should it be any different for him?
