I had not considered   Written by MaryAnn K. (9/25/2005 1:08 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I agree--also sending away to school was so normal, penned by Kalyn
Are you new?

who would have sent Anne off to school. I, like Kayln suggested, thought it was normal, if there were no governess or mother, to send priviledged children off to school. It makes sense that LR would have been happy that Anne be in Bath for the reasons previously stated by others.

The idea of being sent away alone in the sense of no family or close friends, after a mother's death and with very few to rely upon, is saddening. Anne does not seem like the outgoing type, imho, that would be able to "get over it" and just start making friends at school. It's true that whether she was at Bath or Kellynch, she would be neglected emotionally. It's debatable whether she would have fared better at one place than another. I would think that Anne would have liked to be home were things are familiar, but again, imho. =-}
