Week 1 Haiku winner   Written by Cheryl (9/25/2005 12:04 a.m.)
Are you new?

Some great entries this week, with many votes cast. The winning haiku was penned by gkb. Many people cited her clever use of the pun in the first line:

O Fate, worse than debt!
At the sound of it, I blench.
How can I retrench?

Coming in second, just two votes behind (see - every vote counts, so please be sure to cast yours next week!) is Pennie. And though Pennie's was a popular theme, it was the insouciance of the last word that got the raves:

We must have horses,
Brocades, silks and London Trips;
Anne's gift - optional

Congrats to GKay, who is now in the running for the final Group Read Grand Prize. The next round of haikus will commence on Monday with the new week's chapters. I already have the subject chosen.... any ideas? ;-)
