Almost in agreement...   Written by Rebecca Nix (9/24/2005 3:54 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Mr. William Elliot, penned by Cheryl
Are you new?

I found myself thinking, "What a rude little juvenile twit," about Mr. William Elliot.

No matter how annoying Sir Walter and Elizabeth Elliot might be--no matter how displeasing their company is--Mr. Elliot is to inherit Kellynch. It is rude beyond excusing that he should ignore invitations with no explanation or correspondence.

Gentlemen just don't do that. I have several family members with whom 10 minutes of conversation is enough to try the patience of Job...but I don't ignore them or shirk my responsibilities to them as members of the family.

I have had employers and coworkers that I just could not abide...but I was gracious and professional whenever our work required that of me.

Mr. Elliot, in my current opinion, is an immature and selfish fool.

It has been, literally, more than 7 years since I read Persuasion...so I do not remember what Austen has in store for Mr. Elliot. I'm quite sure it will end badly, though. *wink*
