Resistance to adult advice in JA.   Written by Lia (9/23/2005 8:28 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I have to agree with Julie, penned by Katharina
Are you new?

The best examples of characters who fail to listen to the advice of their elders and betters and whose "passions are stronger than their virtue" are, of course, Marianne Dashwood and Lydia Bennet. They are certainly no role models.

Anne is no Lydia B., but if she had not listened to LR, she might have ended up something like Marianne--sadder and wiser--and quite possibly without the man of her dreams in the end, given the risky nature of FW's career path.
