One disagreement   Written by Line (9/23/2005 4:15 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Anne the younger (long), penned by MaryAnn K.
Are you new?

At 14, Anne was still at that stage of life where unhappiness does not necessarily show itself physically. She may have been grief-stricken and depressed but would have been still growing and developing physically, with youth and health on her side and what I can only call the Life Force bubbling away inside her. As you point out, at 19 she was described as a very pretty girl, so I don't think she had lost her "bloom" as early as that! On the other hand, I'm sure that her mother's death affected her *personality* - perhaps gave her a tendency to be depressed, for example.
