something to remember perhaps   Written by Melissa G (9/23/2005 7:47 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, The Lady Russell Question -- a Question, penned by Annette J.
Are you new?

is that 19 then and 19 now (or 50 years ago) are really quite different, as is the role of a 19 yo woman. We all know that then they were expected to do as they were told, marry well and bear plenty of, preferably male, children. The reasons we like so many of JAs heroines IMHO is that they go against that trend.

I know I have been guilty of judging characters by today's standards of what a young lady would do, and I certainly don't know any who would take kindly to such advice, let alone follow it!
