The Lady Russell Question -- a Question   Written by Annette J. (9/23/2005 5:34 a.m.)
Are you new?

If Lady R. hadn't been so meddling we wouldn't have the story we have, but in real life how many people would actually welcome such interference? I know I would not, no matter what my age. At 19 I resisted and resented such actions -- and nothing has changed for me in 40 years! Am I looking at this situation through eyes that are too modern? Does anyone know how common this type of relationship would have been in the 19th century?
