I maybe wrong...   Written by Reeba (9/22/2005 6:17 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, "Advice" as corollary to "Persuasion", penned by Elliot
Are you new?

[Did she approach LR on the subject of the engagement, or did LR come to her with the advice to give Wentworth up?

But, I think that Lady Russell was so much part of the family that she was consulted about this.
I see a natural process taking place here.
Somehow the same one as the discussion about retrenching.

The reason Lady Russell is blamed is because Capt. Wentworth is now successful.
If he had married Anne, would he have left her and gone to search his fortune?
I have always wondered about that.

What about Mrs. Price's fate, in MP?
As a mother figure LadyR can be forgiven for having typical maternal misgivings.

Anne's comment about not giving such advice to anyone who came to her for it, of course stems from her personal feelings.
In fact, I feel quite sure that she would have worried too if she were in Mrs. Russell's shoes.
Well, maybe not on grounds of 'rank'.
