Good points.   Written by Lia (9/21/2005 7:22 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, How long was Anne at school?, penned by Karen Ilene
Are you new?

Art's point now makes me wonder if Anne wasn't pawned off to school in Bath after Lady E's death because her father couldn't handle three girls, didn't want the bother of having her at home. Mary would have been too young to send away; Elizabeth he probably would not want to part from, so Anne must (as always) give way.

And if Anne was at school most of the time since her mother's death, there would have been very little time for LR ("of sound, rather than quick abilities") to establish the pattern of paternal and sisterly negligence.
