Are you new?

The way Anne Elliot feels about Bath might originate from how Jane Austen herself felt.

Anne came there after her mother's death to stay inschool and next it seems LadyR takes her there after the broken engagement. Little wonder the place is tainted in Anne's mind.

Jane who loved her childhood home had to move to Bath without any previous warning, when her father suddenly decided to leave Steventon. She actually fainted upon first hearing it.
