Oh , Barbara! You are so right   Written by Ann2 (9/21/2005 4:47 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Or no time to revise?, penned by Barbara
Are you new?

I feel smallminded now. I hope Jane on her cloud knows every remark of mine is made out of love for her creation.

I gathered from Le Faye's "JA and The World of Her Novels" that Jane was not left to write this novel(August 1815-August 1816) in peace and quiet. Her brother Henry suffered an illness during the Autumn 1815 and in the spring of 1816 his firm went bankrupt. This caused financial losses to members of the Austen family. That same spring her own health began to deteriorate. The correctness of dates is not the main issue for a work in progress is it? Obviously the rewriting of entire chapters must be of greater interest to the author. And then she never said it was ready for publication.
