Indeed   Written by JoAnn Elizabeth (9/21/2005 7:57 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, And I think in general, penned by Joan Ellen
Are you new?

If Elizabeth intends to marry no lower than a baronet...and other baronets are as foolish with their money as Sir Walter...then their sons have to look for ladies with money, regardless of their birth rank. Otherwise they will not be able to keep up the establishment that will be left to them.

I find it hard to believe that selfish Elizabeth would be romantic and loyal to a man who snubbed her (Mr. Elliot). If another baronet or higher had applied for her hand, I assume she would have accepted. I guess no one has. I can see her the object of many wealthy but untitled men (a Mr. Bingley perhaps!) whom she would not encourage. Would she have been satisfied with a Mr. Darcy?
