Ch.2: Where does Lady Russell live?   Written by Line (9/20/2005 6:15 p.m.)
Are you new?

Ch.2 tells us that Sir Walter has been "an obliging landlord" to Lady Russell, and later on that she lives at Kellynch-Lodge. So, does she actually live on Sir Walter's property? If so, when she moved to be closer to her friend, she *really* moved close! I thought renovating unused gatekeeper's lodges (if that is what this is) was a modern phenomenon! Also, in a sense this makes Lady Russell a bit more dependent on Sir Walter than if she lived in her own house in the village, say. Perhaps part of the reason her income is so comfortable is because she hardly has to spend any of it on housing? Can anybody clarify this for me?
