Why is Elizabeth still single?   Written by helena6 (9/20/2005 3:14 p.m.)
Are you new?

We are told she is handsome. She appears to be cold but she would not be so with gentlemen. Is there no young man stupid enough to take such a handsome wife?

Does she have no art for being pleasing?

Elizabeth had succeeded at sixteen to all that was possible of her mother's rights and consequence; and being very handsome, and very like himself, her influence had always been great, and they had gone on together most happily.

Is she too spoiled and used to getting her own way?
