Are you new?

When Anne was asked by Charles Musgrove, she was 22. That would make Mary 20 or 19. Even if an older sister is unmarried, at some point younger sisters must be brought out before the older child ruins their chances.

Charlotte Lucas has a younger sister who is out as well and many years younger. The younger sisters have the hope of coming out sooner than expected - rather than not at all.
