Sir Elliot as a father   Written by Marianne B (9/20/2005 9:57 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I think the..., penned by Reeba
Are you new?

I think he is a very superficial father. He looks at Elizabeth, he sees that she is very good looking and he thinks no more of it.

Elizabeth has done her mother's job to manage the house and servants since she was 16. She does have some sort of influence on her father, but I don't see them as beeing really close.

He doesn't have a thought about her age, it doesn't occur to him that perhaps he should try to help her get married.

He just isn't a good father, to me, it seems as if he doesn't really care.

I've only read the first 3 chapters, maybe he'll improve later in the novel?
