Lady Russell and Bath   Written by Rae (9/20/2005 6:37 a.m.)
Are you new?

Isn't Lady R's view of Bath and how it will be good for Anne reminiscent of how she regarded Wentworth? She likes Bath and so thinks it will be good for Anne, she did not like Wentworth, and so thinks he would not be good for Anne. In spite of being so fond of Anne, and doing what she thinks is right, she really does not understand her at all, does she? The bit in P2 where she says the line about I do not care for the Romantics, do you? when Anne has just tried to tell her she still loves the man she knew eight years ago sums this up brilliantly.
