I think this is a subject which gets a bit "spicy" so I shall try to tread lightly! I didn't see much evidence in the chapters as of yet that LR was manipulative, mostly caring for her favorite god-daughter. I do believe she had Anne's best interest in mind - in relation to the way LR thinks - and could only advise in the way she knew best, as misimplied as it may have been!
