Oh, I think so, too   Written by Rebecca Nix (9/19/2005 7:28 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Lady Elliot, penned by Johanna Elisabet
Are you new?

I was left with the idea that Sir Walter is a silly, materialistic man with very little sense or economy. Because his is vain and silly NOW, it doesn't not necessarily follow that he was vain and silly about his wife.

She was clearly a powerful woman in her own home (passively powerful...those are the strongest kind), and I don't doubt that even a man Like Sir Walter would recognize the value of his wife.
