]...what kind of satisfaction could be gained by looking at it over and over again? Or by looking at other peoples' entries?

Well, it certainly makes Sir Walter feel good about himself. :)
But the book was not meant to give satisfaction, one might want to look at other peoples' entries for reference/information.
