Yes, but I cannot remember the details.....   Written by Caroline (9/19/2005 1:42 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Dates and Austen's own friends and family, penned by helena6
Are you new?

Anielka, who has the world's greatest database on JA and her relations, and who used to share everything she ever learned about her with us at Pemberley, once worked out that the dates in Persuasion, are, indeed significant dates for JA's family. And yes, she and I think it was a family joke, because most of the 'birthdays' seem to be Austen family deathdays.Somehow , the idea that they are simply 'fillers' which JA was alter when she polished the novel, doesn't wash with me.

Right now, I have not got time to look up that particular reference, sorry. It might be from the L&T Persuasion Monthly topic two years ago, or it might just be generally in the L&T archives somewhere. If you cannot find it there, Helena, e-mail me and I'll see if it's somewhere else.
