that I can like Lady Russell for just the following statement.

[she loves Anne, who "was nobody," whose "word had no weight," who "was only Anne." To Lady Russell, indeed, she was a most dear and highly valued god-daughter, favourite, and friend.

Lady Russell fulfilled the most pressing thing in Anne's life, which was, someone to show their love and give her attention.
All else was secondary IMHO.
