Haiku of the week: Retrench!   Written by Cheryl (9/18/2005 9:20 p.m.)
Are you new?

The Haiku of the Week will all be on the same subject, culled from an event or idea from the week's readings. This week's haiku subject is: Retrench!

Please send your haikus to me (click on my name above) by midnight Wednesday, Pemberley time (US Eastern Daylight Time) and I will post them first thing Thursday morning. Voting (also conducted by email) will commence through midnight Saturday, Pemberley time, with the winner announced on Sunday morning.

To refresh your minds, a haiku is a three line poem with the metrical structure of 5 syllables, 7 syllables, 5 syllables. As I won't be entering the contests, but must have my share in the conversation, I will give you a sample haiku:

Alas, my tears flow!

Contractions and restrictions --

Retrench? Odious!

Good luck, and have fun! ;-)
