Mr. Bennet not showing visible concern is not a problem   Written by BarbaraB (5/23/2010 10:18 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, agree with comment re gentleman's dignity, penned by Karen G
Are you new?

No one is asking that Mr. Bennet bestow hugs and kisses all around or even speak his concern. His concern should be in the effort he puts out to do his best to ensure that his family has the best possible future without him. This would speak loud and clear that he does not expect them to just fend for themselves as best they can in a world where women had so few rights and would be pretty helpless in a situation with little money if they could find no one to take them in on a permanent basis. Just sitting in his library showing concern for his own interests is saying loud and clear in my humble opinion: you're on your own.
