A last-minute L&T question in ch.61   Written by Line (5/22/2010 9:47 a.m.)
Are you new?

In ch.61, Lydia writes to Elizabeth suggesting that the Wickhams would appreciate some help, and that "Wickham would like a place at court very much". I get the impression that Lydia is doing a Mrs. Bennet here, asking for something that is completely beyond the power of Darcy or anyone of their acqaintance, but can anyone tell me what she means by "a place at court"? I assume she is talking about some kind of official post at the *royal* court, but what kind of job does she think Wickham would be able to do there?
