Maybe there were several dining tables?   Written by Anne-Marie (5/21/2010 5:00 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, large party #2, penned by Lisa Dalrymple
Are you new?

I think it is possible that some people were at separate tables from others at dinner, and in several different rooms afterward. Otherwise, that must have been one huge dining room. I would guess the family table was sizable to begin with -- there are 7 Bennets, and we know that Charlotte often stayed to dinner and that there was room for Mr. Collins at the table. But I can't imagine one table that would seat 24 people.
