I agree. As a JA heroine, she would marry for love. But if she were a real person, and the Lizzy that is presented in the book, I think she would have accepted the Colonel. She was not in love with him yet, but they shared many interests, and got along well. He was a gentleman by birth and by character. Everyone seemed to like him. If she could fancy herself falling for Wickham, who had only his charms to reccommend him, I think she could, given time, and the gratitude that came from knowing the Col. loved her, have loved him. But Darcy is a better fit for her. She didn't have to wait until after marriage to love him. I am happy it worked out as it did.
