I think Mr. Bennet has more manners than you attribute   Written by Karen G (5/20/2010 3:43 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Elizabeth received them with all the forbearance of civility, penned by Stephanie

to him. That I can remember, we only know one occasion when he publicly embarrassed anyone, that was stopping Mary from further singing, and which had the motive also to mitigate further damage. Mr. Bennet did embarrass and make fun of his own family circle, but it was almost always in the comfort of his own home. But for Lizzy's sake, especially if he is visiting Pemberley as his daughter's guest, IMO I don't think he would expose someone like Georgiana to Elizabeth's own distress and Darcy's (now son-in-law's) anger. Mr. Bennet is more intelligent than to bite the hand that hosts him, and he does truly love and care about his eldest daughters and would not want to injure them. This is all conjecture, but I disagree with you. I like Mr. Bennet, and really do not think he is a universally predatory teaser.
