I wonder what would have happened if Caroline's attentions to Darcy were also brought to Lady CatdB's notice? Would that good lady rush to exact a promise from HER? How would Miss Bingley have taken it?

Possibly as encouragement! If his AUNT thinks Darcy might be interested in her, maybe he IS!
