Are you new?

It's always been clear to me that Elizabeth shares a lot of her father's traits. Why is she his favourite daughter, after all? The difference is that Elizabeth's sense of humour is softened by a feeling of responsibility and concern for others, which IMO become more pronounced as the story goes on.
