So, these various game birds would *not* be moving from estate to estate, but would pretty much stay where they were. I never realized before how domesticated pheasants, etc. were, almost like chickens or other poultry, or that this was part of a gamekeeper's job. It seems to be much less difficult to find and shoot them than I ever imagined! In fact, it doesn't strike me as terribly "sporting" at all. (And the thought of "enourmous bags of massacred birds" as status symbols just makes me mad, but I digress!)
