Darcy   Written by Bridget D (5/17/2010 11:44 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Officers vs. gentlemen, penned by Line
Are you new?

I dont quite understand the point... Darcy probalby dines wiht the officers in much the same spirit that he went to the Assembly, not all that keen on the idea but as Bingely's guest he went along with it. After all he has littlte else to occpy him at Netherfield and may feel that dinner away from tiresome women like Louisa and Caroline is a slight improvement. Besides if it is an all male dinner, it is probalby not so annoying to Darcy as going ot a ball or assembly and being expected to dance with a lot of women who have IHO neither beauty nor fashion to recommend them....
