Wickham's conversation with Eliz   Written by Bridget D (5/16/2010 5:03 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I agree - re Darcy, penned by Karen G
Are you new?

Does it say that he was satisfied with the convrersation? I rather thought that he was embarrassed and uneasy, knowing that Eliz knew all of his past transgressions as well as his seduciton of Lydia etc... but unsure how to get any more information out of her since she is doing her best to cut the talk with him short. IIRC the text says that he hardly knew where to look, but they both let things drop....

I tihnk that he's mostly fishing in their conversation to find out what she knew and if she adn Darcy are now close... but he's also trying to gloss the whole situation a bit, since she and he are now related by marriage adn have to make a show of getting on togheter, so they're both pretending, nad bieng Wickham he's trying to say "oh well if I'd had my right and got the living of Kimpton I might nto have been so bad, but really Im not THAT bad a fellow".....
