Fathers & Fallen Daughters   Written by Robbin (5/14/2010 7:54 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, I know Mr. Collins's sentiments and prescriptions..., penned by Adrian
Are you new?

While his sentiments are harsh in that Sir Thomas felt Maria’s character could never be recovered it seems he always wanted to save her from herself and Henry’s influence and as far as I can tell never considered abandoning her to the streets. Although I am not a great fan of Mr. Bennet I do not think if he knew Lydia was alone on the streets of London that he would leave her there as Mr. Collins suggested. I am not saying he would bring her home of course. His initial refusal to allow the Wickham’s to visit does not really say much about what he would have done had Wickham abandoned Lydia as he planned because she is not alone but in the care of her husband.
